This CMC M-006 Mercedes-Benz W196 Monoposto
During the 1950’s this Mercedes-Benz W196 Monoposto was dominating racetracks all across Europe. Legendary driver Juan Manuel Fangio was the man behind the wheel and theW196’s legendary rise to fame. Fangio became a 2X world champion in this “Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow” His dominance is the reason why the Silver Arrows are still spoken about with such great regard over 60 years later.. This car was truly legendary.
On July 12th, 2013, the Mercedes-Benz W196 Monoposto with chassis number 00006 was sold by Bonham’s Auction House and set a world record for a vehicle sold at auction. The only Mercedes-Benz W196 Monoposto out of factory ownership was sold for $29.5 million. The car was largely untouched after it propelled Fangio to his second world championship in 1954 and during the 1955 season.
